About NoticeBoard.co.za

NoticeBoard.co.za allows you to place Notices / Information directly on the Internet, just by typing it into a window, in plain text. Your target audience can then locate these Notices by keywords or by their unique titles (Suggested Uses). You may place up to five Notices at any one time, and they may be updated from anywhere by you only, and can be kept indefinitely by "Refreshing". A Notice will expire in 90 days if not "Refreshed". However, an alert will be e-mailed to you before a notice is due to expire and a notice can be deleted at anytime (by you only).

How to Place a Notice

Go to Place Notice menu and login with your username and password.

Provide the required notice reference details and keywords and just type in your notice or information page in plain text (or copy and paste).

Continuing to the next screen submits your Public Notice and you are then given the option of entering a Private Notice and choosing a password for viewing that specific Private Notice. This password may only be revealed to those meant to view the Private Notice and is different to the password chosen at Sign up. The Private Notice password can be changed by you only in the Update menu, "Edit Notices" sub menu.

A unique Notice Number will be automatically assigned to your notice, the first 6 digits indicating the date on which it was created, e.g. 0302280019.

HINTS on filling in reference data fields:

Notice Title: Choose your first notice to have in its title only your name or organization's name. This title cannot be replicated and this notice could serve as your unique "Home page" containing references to your other notices and their validating Notice Numbers e.g.:-

Your First Notice Title: Seaside High School
Subsequent Notice Titles: Seaside High School - Sporting Fixtures
Seaside High School - Top Students of 2002
Seaside High School - Swimming Gala Results
Seaside High School - Deb's Ball Preparations

City: Provide all alternate names separated by a space, e.g.: Durban Ethekwini

Web link-http:// Optional. Any desired web URL.

Email contact: This email address will not be revealed in the displayed notice (to prevent spammers getting hold of it) but anyone wishing to contact you can click on an email button which will pop up an email form directed to you.

Keywords: Enter keywords and phrases that best relate to your notice, separated by spaces. Do not repeat any words from the Notice Title here, as the Notice Title will be automatically searched for keywords.

Notice: Type (or copy & paste) up to three pages of information. Tabulated columns and multiple spaces between lines will be preserved as entered. However, HTML tags are not catered for.

Note that the text in the body of the Notice will not be searched, to avoid large numbers of spurious hits.

Searching for a Notice

The Search menu provides three search fields: [Notice Title], [Keyword/Phrase] and [City].

A Notice can be located directly by entering its exact Notice Title, if known.

If the Notice Title is not known, search by a single Keyword or Phrase and enter the City, if known.

You may search by entering part words or part phrases in any of the fields.

Entering part of the Title in the Notice Title field may return multiple results.
